Greetings!

I have a terrible time trying to write lyrics (confusing considering my grades in compositions) and an absolutely horrible voice. I have a few building blocks that could be looped into songs, but I just can't seem to write anything.

If anyone happens to be a great song writer/singer that can't find music to match their sounds, I would love to try things out with them

I would also be very grateful for any song writing tips. My brother and my sister both have great voices, they just don't want to produce any songs with me because they don't think I would be good enough for them.

Hey George,

Sorry to hear about your brother and sister not wanting to produce with you, that’s a real bummer. My advice to you would be to just keep making tracks... sometimes the only way to learn is by doing it over and over...

I agree. It's the same with learning to produce music and with learning any type of skill actually. It requires practise and repetition. So @Georgemetzger I'd say go for it! Maybe you can post your work in progress songs so we can provide feedback 🙂

Yo George

Anyone can write good lyrics and learn to sing - you just need to want it badly enough. Remember that even the very best lyric writers also were terrible at some stage before they got good. Just keep practicing - there really are no shortcuts, no secrets or mysteries. It doesn't matter what it is we try to do we have to do the hard work of learning and practicing until we reach a point of being good. Remember that things are only difficult because we haven't yet learned how to do them the easy way!!

All the best

The best way is to come with a song made of verses, a hook, a bridge and a fade-out. If you want to add the intensity, add the B-Section, some spoken parts, depending on how the song goes.

Hey George, I once wrote "Learning is doing without knowing". I guess that's really what it comes down to. And as Wizard said : "You just need to want it badly enough". True.

I'm personnaly on the other end of the spectrum: words come easy to me (wrote 3 books, published in magazines, etc.). But on the music side of things, man did I had to do, redo and redo again! Sometimes took me weeks just for finding what music would fit what I had to say.

I'm still learning, still "doing without knowing". But all on all, maybe the path is more fun than actually reaching the goal  😉

Who knows, if our styles match, maybe we could collaborate on some tracks eventually.

Keep it up!
