10 years of StageLight — it is hard to believe how quickly time has passed.
When I started this journey, I never expected that a small idea would grow into an app used by people all around the world.
How it all started
More than ten years ago, I was working on a project proposal in my main job: an app for controlling proprietary lighting fixtures for a large retailer. Unfortunately, we did not win the project.
At first, that was a big disappointment. Looking back today, however, it turned out to be the starting point for something much more exciting.
I wanted to create something of my own — not just develop the final piece of a customer-specific solution, but build a product based on open standards, something that could be used by many people and continuously evolve over time.
That idea became StageLight.
What started as a small personal project slowly grew into a lighting application used in many different areas around the world: e-learning, streaming and podcast studios, theaters, churches, school projects and events, film sets, architectural lighting, bands on stage, DJs, and many more.
Seeing how many different ways people use StageLight today is still one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.
Ten years ago, I never imagined that this idea would become a product with such a diverse and passionate community behind it.
StageLight would not exist without you
A 10-year anniversary is the perfect moment to say thank you.
StageLight has never been built by one person alone. Many of the features that exist today started as ideas, requests, or suggestions from the community.
Your feature requests helped shape the direction of StageLight.
Your beta testing helped find issues before releases reached everyone.
Your recommendations helped new users discover StageLight.
Your reviews, feedback, and social media posts helped spread the word.
Even your critical feedback has played an important role — because it helped make StageLight better.
Thank you for your patience when things did not work perfectly, for sharing your experiences, and for being part of this journey.
Looking ahead: StageLight 4
Of course, a 10-year anniversary is not only about looking back — it is also about looking forward.
The next chapter is already taking shape: StageLight 4.
Many of the feature requests you have shared over the years have already been implemented and are currently being tested.
Some highlights include:

- A complete redesign of the Cue List page
- A new Fixture Library with integrated Fixture Editor
- GDTF import support
